BANANA FRUIT CARE
Our premium bananas are sourced from the selected network of progressive farmers who adopt export oriented fruit care practices throughout the year. The final produce is then selected based on the quality and maturity standards of the target market.
Below are some highlights of our banana fruit care practices and procedures.

BUD INJECTION
Careful and precise injection of a very mild and controlled insecticide at the shooting stage is done to protect the fruit from early attacks of various insects, mainly "thrips".
DEFLOWERING
The floral remnants act as a place for fungus to hang out. The flowers also serve as a hideout for thrips, which can leave little raised black dots all over the fruit. Deflowering helps control cigar-end rot as well.
BUNCH PRUNING
Pruning the banana bunch helps reserve the energy into growing big bananas, and not into growing a long stalk. Some of the bottom female hands are also removed, so the remaining bananas grow bigger.
SKIRTING BAGS
Bunch cover plastic bags, open at both ends, are used to protect bananas from diseases, insects, sunburn and marauders. Food grade material with UV coating is used to obtain best shining and colour for the fruit.
HARVESTING TAGS
Every bunch is tracked and tagged with the date of bud injection or flowering, in order to determine its age / maturity at the time of harvesting. Bunches with similar age are harvested, to achieve uniform ripening.
MATURITY INDEXING
Fruit size is monitored for its girth and rounding, in order to harvest the bananas at proper time. Timely harvest ensures that the fruit maturity is perfectly appropriate when it reaches it destination.
HARVESTING
Skilled labour with proper tools handles harvesting, so as to avoid even the slightest bruising to the fruit. Padded crates and foams are used to transfer the bananas from the field to the packing site.
PACKAGING
Poly liners with adequate holes for aeration, foam sheets, are used for packing the fruit, after it is duly washed for the dirt and skin latex. Access air is removed from the package to avoid in-transit bruising / ripening.

We are absolutely focused on supplying premium bananas, hence we work in tight tandem with the progressive farmers to ensure precision at every stage of the crop cycle. Right from the sourcing of planting material till the fruit care of the final produce, we go through stringent growth monitoring procedures, which enables our farmers to meet our quality benchmarks.
